This morning, after dropping my daughter off to her school, found so many snail shells. I got intrigued about who there are, why were they found here and finally to know if they can be a pet! My daughter adores insects. Curiosity got the better of me, did some research and here is what Ive found about them.

Facts:

  • ImageThere are about 200,000 Species of them.
  • They are both male and female
  • They are the slowest creature throughout the earth.
  • They don’t go in straight lines, they go in circles.
  • They do have teeth- called radula, they are very rough.
  • Some snails eat each other
  • Snails are not related to slugs
  • Their life span is from 5 years to 25 years.
  • During drought, they voluntarily put themselves into hibernation to conserve energy.
  • They are very shy creatures, once agitated, they might not come out of their shell for a long time.
  • Nocturnal animals.
  • They are consumed as delicacies.
  • They feed off their fat during hibernation.

Moral from Bug Fact :

  • Dont be deceived by the looks of a snail, they do have teeth.
  • Fat is good, if known how to be recycled.
  • Who said going in circles is not a way of life ?!
  • Dont fret that you are slow, be so that you are one of a kind throughout the earth.
  • Emotions exists even in a snail.

Planning to make a stable for a snail and gift it to my daughter 🙂
